Addis Ababa Action Agenda
2020-05-06
1 Introduction
The Addis Ababa Action Agenda of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development (henceforth “the AAAA”) has been recognized as critical for the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and targets (United Nations, 2015b, Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, A/RES/70/1). The AAAA provides a global framework for financing sustainable development and consists of several hundred commitments and policy actions that member States of the United Nations pledged to undertake individually and collectively (United Nations, 2015a, Addis Ababa Action Agenda of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development, A/RES/69/313).
ESCAP has launched an initiative to identify statistical indicators to monitor and measure progress in the implementation of commitments and policy actions pledged under the AAAA. As part of this work, ESCAP has identified an initial set of SDG indicators and their possible mapping to the AAAA actions areas, as indicated in the table below. Additional indicators will be added in future.
